Taking a day trip to Exmouth beach

With two miles of golden sand and plenty of opportunity for paddling – it’s the perfect summer holiday destination. You will also find fun activities along the promenade such as mini-golf, as well as plenty of stops for ice cream.

Visiting the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth

East Devon is home to the fantastic Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, which is open all year round and is especially popular during the holidays. All of the donkeys have been rescued from mistreatment or relinquished to the charity’s care. The kids can meet hundreds of gentle donkeys and mules during a day trip here, as well as having fun exploring the maze and getting active in the play area. Dogs are welcome if they are kept on a lead and they recommend wearing suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.

Swimming in the Tinside Lido in Plymouth

If you don’t fancy braving a dip in the sea on Exmouth Beach, the Tinside Lido is a fantastic place to take the kids swimming. Built in 1935, this pool overlooks the sea with fantastic views out across the coast. It has even been voted as one of the top ten outdoor pools in Europe! It’s open between 10am and 6pm from May to September so is perfect for a summer holiday trip.
